About Us

Sitting on a ridge of the extreme east side of the Oregon Coast Range is Laughing Gargoyle Alpacas. Seven years ago we found this location that allowed us to both live with the animals and build our current home.

We have 36 acres of land with six acres established as pasture for the animals.

How we found out about Alpacas…

The two of us were watching television very early one morning in 1992 because we could not sleep. An infomercial on alpacas came on captivating us for the full thirty minutes it aired. When it was over, the two of us sat there for a few seconds saying nothing. Then Anne Marie commented that she could handle living that kind of lifestyle. Gary joined in stating he would also love to explore alpacas further and was glad that Anne Marie felt the same way. So off to bookstores, web sites and conferences we went!

We now have eight years of active alpaca ranching behind us. It’s exactly what we were looking for. The animals are warm and curious. You can’t help fall in love with them when you see the babies. And there are no more late nights watching television due to stress. We care for the animals and find it wonderfully fulfilling.
